Red face SB-600 Fires multiple times

hi,
I lately observed that, my SB-600 flash fires multiple times and as a result the target photograh is not fully captured.

It was not the case three weeks before. I was playing around to fire the flash remotely (off the camera).

Any suggestions please on how to fix this. ?

thanks
Sat

I'm not sure what you mean by "not fully captured." Are parts of the frame dark? Can you show us an example?

Check also if the setting for red eye reduction are not turned on.
The flash will blink before a few times before the picture is actually taken.

Not fully dark. but I can figure out the difference. I can share the photo by eod of this week.
I have not checked whether I set 3 fps to the camera. But I am sure I have not.

the speedlight flashes for twice and third time a full blown flash.

Could be redeye reduction.
Does your camera have commander mode? I'm not sure but if the "onboard flash" is set to commander mode and the SB600 is mounted on camera it may be trying to communicate with other flash units.

+1. Certainly sounds like exceeding max. sync speed to me.

BTW, how are you triggering the flash off-camera? You can use HSS if you're using CLS or a TTL sync cord, but if you're using non-TTL radio triggers like Cactus V4s or YN-602s, HSS is not an option, and you have to lower your shutter speed down to (at least) your max. sync speed, depending on propagation delays.

Does your camera have a modeling light setting?

My SB600 was doing the same thing a while back. I tried everything, and it still did it, then I found I had my flash set to rear curtain. I changed that, and all was good. Honestly have no idea why that setting would cause it, but when I changed it, it stopped.

That makes sense, preflash for TTL reading, then real flash.

Most of your suggestions makes sense to me. I am out of home now. Once I back home this Friday, I will try these optins.

1.Red Eye correction is enabled, I am sure. I do not turn it on, how do I get rid of RED EYE. Some of the photos came up very well but the RED EYE is causing issues.

2.I will check the 3-4 FPS setting.

thank you
