Default Photographer's Gloves?

Does anyone know of a good pair of gloves for us photographer's?
I was just outside (and I have done this many times before) and about froze my hands off!
I can't stand wearing gloves when out taking pictures...they are more trouble than it's worth...until you get frostbitten

Do you have a pair that you swear by or would recommend?
Thanks in advance!

I like the gloves that are fingerless but have coverings for the tips of your fingers if you need them. If you know you're going to be out for awhile getting those pocket warmers is helpful to so you can warm your hands up when you get a chance.

I've just merged your two threads. Much better to keep it all in 1 thread and we discourage cross-posting.

I actually don't like fingerless gloves for shooting all that much (though I've yet to find something else good). I have a pair of fingerless gloves that I'll use on somewhat cold days / nights, but the problem is that all my fingers get cold. and I inevitably wind up scrunching my fingers into the palm part of the glove, which makes it pretty hard to do anything.

I've thought of using something like either glove liners some sort of thin, grippy glove.

I've used the "foldable mittens" THESE are nice in they also have a thin glove liner and accept heat pads.

The Aquatech sensory gloves are a new idea for photographers...I haven't tried them.

On the rare occasions when I need gloves, a simple pair of leather gloves (unlined) tend to work well for me: enough grip to do whatever I need to get done, no bulk to get in the way). But then, it's November, I'm in the Northern hemisphere and the weather outside for me today is 87°F (31°C). The Santa Anas are blowing and it's fire weather again.

My guess, though, would be that something like the Freehands gloves would be what you're looking for: grippy palms, and only the thumb and forefinger tip covers flip back and off for when you need to text or take pictures.

I use range gloves originally designed for military/firing range applications. Theyre thin enough that I can use my controls (hell, I type on my blackberry with even the thickest ones) but warm. Theyre some sort of microfleece. I have several pairs for different temperatures.

I've been using Alpinestars driving gloves, paired with glove liners if it gets really cold.

I have woolen “fingerless” gloves that become mittens when you pull the cap over the fingers. Be sure when you purchase that:

1) The fingerless portions are not too short.

2) Get woolen gloves. These will stay warm even when wet.

woolen ?fingerless? gloves - Google Search

I also use chemical hand-warmers and place these in my pockets.

Another trick is to use odorless capsaicin (arthritis) cream on your hands. However, be CAREFUL, to not get this between your fingers and DO NOT rub your eyes! Works on the feet as well. Keep from between the toes. If you can't remember to not rub the eyes, get the kind that smells. You will not forget.

I used these last winter down to about -15C. Very light, thin, with grippy fingers and palm.
