Hi guys,
Ive recently been thinking about getting a new Macro Lens for my D40. But I really dont know where to start. I have a budget of around £100 so I cant afford anything fancy. Where do you suggest looking? Or does anyone have a tip for a specific lens? Also, if I can get a Macro Lens I could be looking at getting a new prime lens. Any thoughts there too? Thanks in advance |

If all you've got is £100, then you're pretty much limited older manual focus lenses. That's not such a bad option, though. The old Micro-Nikkors had great image quality and a lot of people don't like using auto focus for macro photography anyway. You will also have to set the exposure manually with these lenses on your D40, but again, not a big deal with macro photography.
I would start with some reading at this website. That will help you sort out the differences between the different iterations of the lens. Here's Bjorn Rorslett's page with some reviews of the different versions.
