Default too much lens creep?

I didn't experience any lens creep on my Canon EF-S 18-200mm zoom in the beginning. Then I rented a couple of lenses one weekend which I packed into my bag in such a way that they (unfortunately) grabbed hold of the lens on my camera when I was taking it out of the bag, thereby extending the zoom each time by physically pulling it longer. Needless to say, I now how lens creep in my zoom. Tipping it forward a bit it will start to creep out.

My question is, is there any way to tighten it back up? If I want to sling the camera over my shoulder rather than put it back in the bag between shots, I would have to click the zoom lock on each time, which is probably more work than slipping it back into the bag, as it's a tiny little button on the underside of the lens and not easy to find. Yes, I'm a noob , but appreciate any suggestions.

No way to adjust creep, unless Canon can somehow tighten the helicoids if you were to send it in. It wouldnt be cheap.

You learn to live with it. I know my 18-70 doesnt have creep (not heavy enough) but it's been used so much that the zoom ring on it is fairly loose and if I grab it out of my bag the wrong way, it comes out extended. Its not a huge issue.
