Street photography has always been a passion of mine and after a hiatus from it, I've decided to jump back in. I used to shoot with a Nikon FE2 with a 24 f/2.8 lens. The wide angle perspective was perfect for getting in close and shooting from the hip.
Because the cost of film and developing has become a bit too expensive for the amount I shoot, I'm going to start using my D90 for my street photography endeavors. Now I understand with the crop factor of the D90, I'd effectively need a 16mm lens to get the same viewing area as my old 24mm on my FE2. What prime wide angle for my D90 would you suggest? I've been looking at both the nikon 20 f/2.8 AF-D and the 24 f/2.8 AF-D. Anything else I should be considering over these two? |

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a good digital equivalent to your previous setup, at least not in Nikon's line. Pentax makes a 15mm prime that is supposed to be very nice but Nikon hasn't deemed in necessary to provide DX users with a wide angle prime lens. You could try out one of the wide angle zooms but would understand if you don't want the added bulk.
