Default My husband lost my 50mm. What should I replace it with?

A few weeks ago, I was doing a photo shoot and asked my husband to hold my 50mm 1.8 lens. I guess he laid it down somewhere, and I was shooting in a huge field, so we never found it. I need a replacement lens, and while I absolutely loved that lens, I am open to getting something better. I do portrait photography, and now I only have a 55-200mm lens.. What would you all recommend for a new lens? Thanks!!

BTW, I have a Nikon D200. I think that's in my signature, but can't see that right now, so I wanted to include it.

I truly believe you should give him a second chance. I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

OH. So sorry. What to replace the lens with? A friend of mine uses a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and his images are fabulous. And there's the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4.

There's another 50, but if youre using it mainly for portraits... hmm, the 85 does come into play, even the older f/1.8 model. If you can afford it, though, the older f/1.4 models are going like gangbusters on the used market and even new!
