Exclamation Printer help

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my printer, whenever i print my photos they come out heaps darker than on the screen. I’ve heard of things like how you calibrate your monitor with the printer but I’m totally at a loss as to how to go it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Me.

Well, the simplest thing is to check you have your monitor's brightness and contrast settings at a normal level. Calibrating properly involves buying a special sensor that you place on your screen which detects the colour levels and helps you adjust them to match your printer.

However, this is pretty expensive (about $130 for a basic calibrator) and to be honest, it's cheaper to simply get your photos printed at a shop. You get better quality prints, you don't have to fork out for ink cartridges every month, and the shop should give you a colour profile to help you colour match.

Thanks for your help RecurrentNerve, I have made sure my monitor was set right but, getting them printed somewhere else is proably easier and less expensive.

Thanks again.
