So, what's yours?? In order to cover everything
For me it would have to be 18-55mm (for some macro, landscape and architechture) 50 f 1.8 (low light and portrait) 70-300 VR (the cheap one) For sports and wildlife. ![]() ![]() The only thing that I'd be missing is the 105 Micro So what would be your ideal (cheap) d90 kit??

Well, it depends on what you mean by "cheap"
![]() I dare say you will get varying opinions, but here's my experience. The kit you have listed is a good start - except for the 50, it's about what I started with. But I did find some problems. First, the 18-55 wasn't wide enough for landscapes for me, so replaced it with a Tokina 12-24 f/4 ($400), and then added a used Nikon 28-105 ($160). I was never really happy with my 70-30 VR at the long end (I may just have had a bad one, I know many people are very happy) as I found it soft at 300 (and slow), and it didn't take kindly to teleconverters. I've replaced it with a Nikon 300/4 prime (AF, not AFS) for about $500, which is much better for my purposes (wildlife mainly). I'm happy with these lenses (although I keep lusting after pro glass of course) but I'm still lacking a fast AF prime or two for low light and portraits (and a really good long tele like a 500/4 - dream on ...).
