Hi! I'm looking to start building my equipment bag for my Nikon D90. I currently have a 18-105mm VR lens. Long term, I plan on doing portraits and weddings. I want to start with adding another lens and a flash. I'm looking at 18-200mm VR -OR- 70-300mm VR. I've read several reviews that say the 18-200mm VR lens is a great multi-purpose lens, but maybe since I already have the 18-105mm I'm better off going with the 70-300mm? Thoughts?
As for the flash, I've always done natural lighting and not really used a flash...so call me dumb right now in this area. Would SP400 or SP600 be good? Thanks for your input! I appreciate it! |

If you wanna do weddings, then neither the 18-200 or 70-300 is well suited: you'll want a 70-200 f/2.8 VR. If you're just looking to add some extra focal length to your kit, then I can definitely vouch for the 70-300 VR
Since your D90 has a commander flash built into it, I'd recommend the SB-600 (if you can still find it) or the SB-700 (when it comes out) because they can be triggered off-camera using the flash. The SB-400 is next to useless.
