Default What do you think about this laptop for PP photos?

Hello people,

I would like to hear you opinion on the configuration of this laptop computer, what do you think of it, whether it is good for editing photos?

It is a Lenovo (they bought IBM) ThinkPad T410.
Here are the basic specs:

CPU 2.53-GHz Intel Core i5-540M
Operating System Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
RAM 4GB RAM Upgradable to 8GB
Hard Drive Size 320GB
Hard Drive Speed 7,200rpm
Hard Drive Type SATA Hard Drive
Display Size 14.1
Native Resolution 1440x900
Optical Drive DVD-RW
Graphics Card Nvidia NVS 3100M
Video Memory 512MB
Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth
Mobile Broadband
Ports (excluding USB) Audio-in; Audio-out; DisplayPort; Ethernet; Firewire 400; Kensington Lock; VGA; eSATA
USB Ports 4
Card Slots 5-1 card reader; ExpressCard/34; Smart Card
Size 13.1 x 9.4 x 1.3 inches
Weight 5.2 pounds

I would use it primarily for editing photos in PS or LR, one at a time, and for some other general stuff.

I really like its i5 processor, the 4 GB DDR3 (and expandable to 8 GB), and the fact that it has a dedicated video graphics card. I am in position to buy one slightly used for a very affordable price. It's screen is only 14.1" and I find that a bit small, but it has a high res.

The specs look good, but im not too big on Lenovo
what is the price?
also, it may not seem like much, but if you're going to be carrying your laptop a lot, you may find 5 lbs to be quite heavy after a while, especially added on to the accessories and stuff

On paper it looks ok.

Just upgrade the ram, get external hds and desktop monitor... and mouse or tablet (depending on preference) goes without saying.

Ah, it's regular price is around 1100$, but, I might be able to get it much cheaper, maybe half that price, and give something else in, to exchange.

Actually, my current laptop is 7.5 lbs, so that seems like a feather to me.

I would probably upgrade the ram after some time and get an external disk, but I'm not sure about the external monitor, I would use the laptop monitor.

That's also matter of preference. I like to have large monitor when working with images.

The laptop sounds fine for the price but I also would use a larger monitor and particularly an IPS type for editing. Laptops use TN technology which cannot display all 16.7 million colors for true color. Of course it depends what your end use is, for small prints or web probably be ok.
