I bought the canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L lens last week and am not very pleased with the lens. I received a copy of the lens that had some problems communicating with my 7D and had to ask for a replacement. The one that came next seems to display unacceptable levels of fringing in the out-of-focus areas in the image. I've never seen such chromatic aberration even in the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens that I used to own!
All images I clicked for a microstock website using this lens were rejected because of purple fringing. I tried to correct this in DPP and Lightroom, but couldn't see any improvement. Even though the lens is sharp, this fringing quality seems to get in the way of some otherwise useful stock photos. Is this common with the lens, or am I the unlucky one? Should I send the lens back and ask for another copy? Should I send it back to the seller and request for another replacement? I've spent more than a couple of days trying to resolve this problem and feel helpless. Here are some sample pics and their 100% crops.http://www.flickr.com/photos/rbharat...n/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/rbharat...n/photostream/ Please advice. That's really not that bad. it's an out-of-focus region on a fast lens: a common issue. Shoot RAW, correct in post.

Thanks for the reply OsmosisStudios! The pics i have uploaded are with the lens profile correction in lightroom in the RAW image. I've tried adjusting the blue and red sliders to various levels, but this is the smallest size I can reduce the fringe to!

Would you be okay to upload the RAW file itself?
