need help choosing a lens for my canon 50d

Hi, Iam looking to purchase a new telephoto lens for my canon. My last one was canon 55-250 IS lens and it was stolen. Now I've been lookin at the canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens, but was wondering if the Tamron AF 70-300mm DI VC ultra silent lens is just as good. I also ran across the Tamron AF 28-300mm XR DI LD VC which I think is comparable to the canon Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM. The latter is over $1,000 and the Tamron is around $600. Please give me your opinions. Thank you.

haven't used any Tamron lenses. but the 55-250 is a great lens. just because it was stolen doesn't mean you have to change a winning horse - if you're on a tight budget - that's the way to go, just by it again.
