Default lens for protrait photography

I currently own an Olympus E-600 and I am wanting to get into portrait photography but I am not sure which lens to purchase. I am on a limited budget but any suggestions would be appreciated. I am also thinking about purchasing the Canon 60D when it comes out in September, do any of you have thoughts on this camera?

If you are startin and experimenting and no to want to spend too much on the lenses, go for the 50mm F1.8 lens; around a 100USD. Or even 1.4 or 1.2 if you can afford to spend.

For many years to 105mm Nikkor was considered the consummate portrait lens. Of course, that was before zooms and the plethora of other lenses was available. Still, it remains a classic. For that reason something in that length for you camera would make sense. Your camera's sensor is small enough that focal lengths are double what they would be with a 35mm camera, so you are going to want a lens in the 50mm length as mentioned above. A fast lens would be nice, as would one with macro capabilities, but even if you buy the cheap one you will find it does a great job for portrait photography.
