50mm 1.8 Vs 1.4

I need to replace my 50mm 1.8. Is the 1.4 really worth the extra cost?

I say yes and here's why. The 1.4 is a better quality lens - better build, better glass, etc. The 1.8 is cheap and crappy feeling. That being said, if you're seriously strapped for cash I'd get the 1.8 over nothing. I have the 1.4 and love it. (And there is an optical difference between them - but it might not be a big enough one for you to care; it depends on what you're using it for.
