Been wanting to get the 24-70 for awhile now but I've come across the older 28-70 version in excellent used condition for about $700 less than the 24-70.
Is the 24-70 worth the extra money? Any noticeable differences in image quality/sharpness/colors/etc? Just looking for some advice for anyone that's had experience with either (or both) of these lenses. Thanks. |

$700 is allot of money.... personally.. having used a Nikkor 24-70 ...i'd go with the older one.
no i havn't used the 28-70 (diddnt even know about an old nikkor 28-70) but it its Nikon, and f/2.8 i'll boldly say i doubt you'll be dissapointed. i know what I'd do if i could save $700 the new 24-70 is AF-S so will be faster.. my assumption is that the 28-70 will be AF-D so will use your internal focus motor in the camera. which leads me to the next point... just be sure your camera body has the motor

If you can save that much money go for it.

From what I've read, the overriding difference between the two is size and weight. Image quality is close.
