Hi all,
Until now I have a Lowepro 200 AW slingshot which is fine but recently having acquired a 70-200 2.8 Canon is lens, attached to the camera (Eos 450d) it will not fit in the bag. As I 'm off on safari shortly I don't want to be fitting or changing lenses onto bodies while out in the bush so am looking for a bag that'll take the camera/lens ensemble-27cms!!! Any ideas are welcome and many thanks in advance. |

If you like the current sling type you could go see how the 300 version of it feels. According to Lowepro website it should fit your camera with lens attached. But I'd urge you to try some backpack type with two straps as you most likely will be carrying the bag for longer times at the safari and sling type of bags aren't the best ergonomically.
Just go to the local camera stores or which ever sells camera bags and test them out and bring your camera set with you.

I tested Lowepro Classified Sling 180AW in a store but it felt horrible in my back and the compartments etc weren't all that great. The new version of the Slingshot was otherwise great but only allowed to be carried on the right shoulder and the top compartment lacked all kind of little pockets. Plus the quick access side things in Kata bag seemed to be better designed. But as I don't have it yet I can't say anything definite.

Thanks for your advice fellers. I've finally gone for the Kata 3in1 30, as I like the idea of being able to wear it as a rucksack for walking or trekking and as a sling when actually shooting. I tried the 300 AW and must say it worried me with all that weight just on one shoulder. With my own gear plus a 100-400 L IS I will be hiring for the safari, that sure was a lot of weight. Thanks again.
