Default Filters

Hi all.Looking to buy some filters.Got UV filter. I am going to Nepal;lots of snow clear blue sky...shall I go for graduated ND4 filter?Is it necessary to have a polariser filter as well?What company should I look for?

If you are in an area that has snow covered ground with a bright sky, you should use a Circular Polarizer or a Neutral Density filter. When there is a major difference in brightness between the top half of frame to the bottom half of frame is when you would use a Graduated Neutral Density filter.

This one area where you really don't want to go the cheap route. Stick with a name brand & spend a little more money to buy quality. Hoya, B & W, Kenko are all good brands.

advice for a filter

Most of the senior members do not recommend using a UV filter. It will not improve image quality and may degrade it. Most recommend a lens hood instead.
