Default connecting converters--help.

So, yesterday I got a Canon AE-1 in the mail. I can't really use it until tomorrow, or Monday, when the film and batteries get here-- in the mean time I'd have to learn the ropes of changing the lenses. It's my first time ever owning any kind of SLR, so I decided to start with the basics. However, I'm finding that the "basics" aren't exactly thrilling just yet.

Here is the camera. It comes with a Soligor zoom/macro lens, and a auto tele converter x2 for Canon? The converter connects to the lens nicely-- and nicer than it would ever fit my camera! This cap like thing is on the back that says 'Canon' (but it doesn't look like the other lens caps), and I'm not sure what to do with it. It doesn't come off, so I'm not going to mess with it anymore for the time being. Chances are I broke it already with my luck....but I don't see how this would actually connect to the camera, and if it did, how it would take pictures with just nothing but the black abyss staring it dead in the face.

Anyone know what to do?

Sounds like the convertor has a back-cap - a lens cap, but for the back! All lenses come with them. It is probably smaller in diameter but a bit 'thicker' than the front lens caps, right? It should twist off, if it's been on there a while it might be a bit stuck.

At least with that post I wasn't afraid to twist it a little more.
Thank you, you're a godsend!
