did you move the camera closer to take the shot?
that filter should allow the camera to focus closer to the subject. but the "wide angle" part makes me worry its not a dedicated macro filter.... which could be your problem

Macro and autofocus don't tend to play well together. Presumably this is the same lens you used for your spider pictures elsewhere on the forum, so it looks like you may have solved it.
