Default Off Camera Flash Question

I was wandering if an SB-400 could be used off camera on a Nikon D3000 using a cord (SC28 for example).

Would this work?

It should work. You definitely need an SC-28 or SC-17--you need the full number of hotshoe contacts to get i-TTL functionality, since the SB-400 has no manual control over flash power. This is why cheap radio triggers probably won't work--you'll only have the center "fire" pin/signal, and no way to control the power output.

Ok, sounds promising then! Having read up on the D3000's limitations when it comes to using off camera flash i wasn't too sure what to expect. I'll have to get myself to a store and test out the set up.
