Default Gary Fong or Stofen

Good day,

I'm currently looking at different lighting options when I cannot use flash bounces. What do you guys think between these 2 devices ? Can they overwarm my flashgun (SB600) ?

I found the Gary Fong a little big and quite expensive for a piece of plastic but the Stofen website is not inspiring me at all...

Thanks

can't speak to the fong device.
Perhaps consider a lumiquest bounce device - -they are easy to make a DIY version and spread the lightout nicely.
On the stofen... made a DIY version by cutting off the bottom of a translucent rubbing alcohol bottle and slipping that over the flash head.

a diy lumaquest... http://super.nova.org/DPR/DIY01/

I made one from a rubbing alcohol bottle and didn't really like it, maybe a bounce would have worked better. I "treated" myself to a Fong cloud diffuser and love it....except for the size.

Default Hope this will help clear up the differences

I made this video to show the comparison between other flash units out there:

YouTube - The Typical Flash Diffuser - "issues"

We have a website with a lot of videos that do similar demonstrations, show recommended camera settings (brand-specific, Canon/Nikon/Sony etc)

I am curious to hear your comments!

The new collapsible dome looks very promising. Might have to order as I'm a hardware junkie like many other photogs. Even though it's kinda pricey. Maybe you get what you pay for. But I don't know... yet. The generic diffusers at Ebay cost $2 and up.

Btw Gary you might want to edit your signature (though it's not a sig but part of the post) link to what it's meant to say since at the moment it says "Your Page Title". It's caused by your page redirect and forum's tendency to pick the linked page's title. Loved the "in the yeaaaaar twooo thousaaand" reference in the Lightsphere video.

Gary, the information is appreciated, but I would hope you know that to join a forum and make your first post a promotional post for your own product(s) (good bad or indefferent) is generally considered to be bad form..

Again I realize you are trying to be helpful...but it looks like a self-serving type of help...promoting your products in the process
