was just wondering if anyone has had any personal experience with a DSLR underwater housing case?
and are these ones (not the $1000+ ones) worth considering? http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel.../P41904703.jpg come to think of it, i spend quite abit of time on sites like 'digital photography school' and have never come across a 'how to shoot underwater' articles etc..i guess its a scary thought dunking your baby underwater haha. |

I haven't seen that housing before. I think I am going to go with an ikelite--I know it is expensive, but I would rather a reliable housing. I have had an unreliable housing before--not fun!!!
I am currently shooting with the sealife dc600 and I love it---but I can't wait to get my dslr underwater. Here is the link to my latest dive trip shot with the dc600 Picasa Web Albums - 10970560635643311... - best of bon 10 Let me know what you decide as far as the housing goes. |

your photos are awesome scubajen
![]() i agree, and the 'real' underwater cases cost quite a bit so unless your main interest is ocean photography i can see how not many people are willing to buy one unless they would be getting extensive use out of it. |

The housing does look like it may work up to 20-30 feet - after that, the pressure would apply force to camera's buttons, which could cause accidental shutter releases, etc
Few years ago I splurged and got Ikelite housing + two DS125 strobes for my D80. I took it on a trip to Australia in '07 and spent a week diving and taking photos. Some photos here: vazagothic's Gallery Advantages: amazing photo possibilities, good lighting, safe way to take your camera underwater, can use TTL underwater. Disadvantages: it drags a lot underwater, heavy on the surface and requires Pelikan hard shell case. Expensive as hell :-) |
