Default Question on Lens

Pardon me for my basic question but its imp for me to know this

I Have Canon 450D.

My question is like how can I see from the specification of the lens if that can fit to my machine..I wanted to buy a lens online but not sure if that will fit my canon 450D.

If it's a Canon lens or made for Canon it should fit.

hmm...and what if its a sigma or other lens?

Does Ring size come into picture here?

As long as it's designed for the Canon mount it should fit. Make sure: Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc all make lenses for Canon, Nikon, etc. Just make sure to get the Canon mount version.

Now How will i find out if the sigma lens can be mounted on canon?

If it says "for Canon" or "Canon EOS mount" then it should work. If the seller isn't giving that in the description, then ask, or go find someone who will bother to tell you what mount the lens has.

For example. B&H will list a Sigma for Canon like this. See where it says "For Canon EOS Cameras"? That's what you're looking for.
