*Lens Filters HELP *

I just bought a D300s and 85mm 1.8 lens. What filters should I get? I was thinking of getting the UV filter and a polarizing filter, but I honestly don't know what their functions are. My camera will be used to take pictures of the kids/friends' kids/family, etc. Thanks for any help!

IMHO, on a digital camera, a UV filter doesn't do a whole lot except protect the lens - and degrade the image a bit under certain conditions.

A polarizing filter can enhance color saturation, intensify or darken blue skies, and reduce unwanted reflections (e.g. from water). See Photographic filter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

B+W has a good reputation, so those should be fine.
