I am looking at going on a two week trip in the near future. I thought it would be kind of cool to mount a camera in the windshield and have it take pictures while I drive. Anyone have any suggestions for a lower cost setup to mount my Nikon D70?

I've had good luck taking fairly long exposures (down to 0.5s) with the camera on a tripod in the car. I'm to assume that you're going to be driving during the day, so your shutter speed will be fairly quick, so you wont have to worry too too much.
A GPS mount is likely your best bet, especially for a D70. You could always try simply attaching the camera to a shoe for a tripod and somehow affixing that to the dash.

I put it on a tripod in the back seat, though that may not work depending on your situation.

You could get an OmniPod ($75) or any number of BeanBag solutions to include DIY.
