I am looking into ultra wide angle lenses mostly for lanscape photography to go with my
D60. I will be heading to upstate NY in a few weeks and would like to get some shots while up there. Price is an issue so I am forgoing even considering the Nikkor glass. I have narrowed my choices down to the the Tokina 12-24 f/4 Tokina - 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 AF Pro DX Lens - ATX124AFPRON - and the Tamron 10-24 f/3.5-4.5 Tamron - SP AF 10-24mm f / 3.5-4.5 DI II Zoom Lens - B001NII-700 The Tamron is $100 more but has a $50 mail-in rebate plus it appears the autofocus will work with my D60 where the Tokina will be strictly manual (which is not that big of a deal). Reviews for both indicate that they are both the best bargain lens for the price. I am interested in hearing from others pro and cons of each or any other advice. Thanks!

Could not help but notice you did not include the Sigma 10-20 HSM lens. I love mine and it would work great on your camera.

IRT: Sigma f/3.5 or f/4-5.6
The f/4-5.6 is somewhat sharper in the corners. I have the Nikon 10-24, and I quite like it, though it is somewhat out of your price range.

I'm also buying a wide angle lens.
I've done great multitudes of research, and talked to 4 pro's that can afford anything they want. All 4 told me the Tokina 12-24 was as good if not better than the Nikon version. I've never bought anything that wasn't Nikon, so this will be a first for me. |

Also worth serious consideration is the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. The only issue might be a loss of autofocus on your D60 body as i believe this hasn't yet been updated to an in-lens autofocus motor. It is however, a very highly rated lens.
An English photo magazine rated the Tokina's a very very close second to the Nikon.
