Default Whats the point of a 10-24 Wide Lens

Whilst I know that the hardware is just a tool (in the same way flat head screw driver is not designed to be used to open paint pots), and can be manipulated by the creativity of the beholder, what, in your opinion, is the main purpose of a 10-24mm wideangle lens?

Please include examples include creative use of a wide angle...

A wide angle allows a great amount of space for creating interersting angles and compositions that you may not otherwise get with a telephoto.

Examples:

Mazda RX-8

Run like the wind

A brighter day.

iRelax!

These were taken with a Sigma 10-20mm.

Theyre great for landscape shots, but I also like it very much for closeups like these

An old one:
Stairway to Nowhere
I was about 1 ft from the bottom step when I took this. Sigma 10-20 on D300
Recent one:

I was in the water within inches when I took this one. Sigma 12-24 on D3

To me it's a special use lens, but particularly useful when you want to capture an "infinity focus" type shot...

It creates depth as opposed to a long lens that makes everything on one plane.

Here's a portrait I did with my 14-24.

Another use of the 14-24

Finally, this was indoors I had about 10 feet to work with and get the entire shop in frame.

I have a 15mm and when used on a full frame camera it is insane. I've been considering purchasing a 10-22 or something of that sorts to use on my 40D, as it is not as distorted and I think makes great for group shots of people too. Special use, but the results can be amazing!

I use heavily the Pentax 10-17 FE in almost all of my work. I bought it as a toy to use for landscape and architectural, but grew to love it and it gets regular use on my 2nd body. I intend to pick up a 4th body to leave it permanently mounted.

At 10mm I have a great FE, at 17mm I have a wonderful wide-angle. It contributes greatly to the style I present. The nice thing is, you see it used so seldom in portrait and lifestyle work, it really helps to distinguish your work. It took some figuring out, but it was well worth the work...
