Default Vertical Battery Grip

Hi Folks

I bought a battery grip for my Ninkon 40X...I have attached it to my camera and inserted 6 disposable batteries ( all new and same brand) and when I took a photo the flash went up and shutter went off....but no photo.... when I looked the the display no photo..... I bought the grip on ebay and there is no manual .....what did I do wrong?

Thanks

You bought a Nikon.

J/K!

Is the lens cap on? I have to ask...cause that's the only thing I can think of.

When you hit the playback button does it say "no images"? Do you have a card in the camera? There is a setting that can be changed to allow/prevent shutter release without a card installed.

As far as I can tell, the only thing your grip is doing is providing a power source for the camera, and possibly a second shutter button (for portrait orientation). If there's enough power to click the shutter and pop the flash up, then the camera itself must be getting enough juice to work. I'd say the issue must be with the memory card (or potential absence thereof) - taking a card out and forgetting to put one back in is remarkably easy to do.

Have you tried taking the grip off and trying again? Does it still not take a picture, or does it work perfectly ok?

sheesh, trixy
it looks as though Nikon never made a grip for this camera so your 3rd party product could have a host of issues.

Is the AF working?

Does the camera take/record a pic without the grip? If the grip is triggering the shot, I doubt it's the grip......but you never know.
