Hello all,
I'm (serious hobby photographer) using a D40X 18-200mm for location portrait shooting. Some photographers told me that I should upgrade to a 85mm 1.8 lens and others felt strongly about the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens instead. I'd love to hear your feedback on these lenses and since both lenses are expensive - I'm wondering if there is a more economic version that would still be an upgrade to the the lens I currently have - maybe the 50mm 1.8? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time. Gonska |

The reason they suggest those lenses is a mix of focal length and fast aperture. That combination usually means pricy.
THe 70-200 f/2.8 VR might be a bit out of your price range: It's a VERY expensive lens. But there is no alternative. THe 85mm f/1.8 is considerably cheaper, and it's probably your best bet. Here;s the catch: it won't autofocus on your D40x.
