Hello,
I'd like to get some extension tubes to get macro capability with my lenses. I don't know much about them or which ones to buy, as there are inexpensive ones on ebay and amazon for less than £10, then there are the more expensive ones like Kenko ones for over £100. Can anyone give me advice/recommendations on which would be best to buy? Thanks, Mike

The main difference between the cheap and expensive tubes is usually electronic control. The expensive ones will let you autofocus and control aperture normally. The cheap ones are literally just tubes and don't transmit anything to/from yourlens, so you have to manually focus and if your lens has no aperture ring, you can't adjust aperture.
If you want to keep AF and apreture control, the Kenko 3-tube set is usually the first choice. |

No idea where you'd find 'em in the UK, but Adorama here in the US also offers the Pro Optic sets which are a little flimsier and a whole lot cheaper than the Kenko set. Jessops may have a similar house-branded version of these. But then, the entire Kenko set is roughly about as expensive as a single Canon tube. Also, older versions of the Kenko set were not compatible with EF-S lenses, unless you took a dremel tool to them to grind off a flange. I think they are compatible, now, but you may want to do a little research first, if you plan on using the tubes with EF-S lenses, like the kit lens.

Thanks for the replies.. I think the more expensive option is a better way to go. I know Kenko ones are quite popular. Ill look into those I think, Just a question of finding them at the cheapest price
