Default Lightroom 3 Noise reduction

I would say it works farily well. Here are three quick handheld shots I took this morning with my D90 and 70-300VR lens at 102mm. They were taken at ISO 100, ISO 1600 and ISO 6400, you be the judge which is which:

Wow... I'm actually supprised.

I usually never get over 1600 unless I really have to and I know I won't get a second chance to take the picture.

Do u still have access to LR2 ? Could be interesting to compare.

I have LR3 and the noise reduction capabilities are pretty darn good. But upon close inspection I'd say the middle one is definitely the ISO6400 shot.

I've played around with it and was impressed by the noise reduction capabilities. It's by far the best I've seen outside of a dedicted plugin.

Correct, the middle is 6400 --- darn impressive for 6400 on a D90!

I mean, the D90 is pretty good with noise to begin with, but you're right, combining it with LR's noise reduction is just sweet... Good comparison to show how well it works.
