Sports and action? Not likely. The 50-500 is a f/4-6.3, so you'll need some high ISO, even outdoors, for the shutterspeeds you need.

The Stabilizer helps for stationary subjects: it cant freeze motion.
The best you'll get at 500mm is likely to be f/4, which is already a full stop and a third better than the Bigma.
