I have always been wary of buying anything i consider important from ebay. But the local retailers are all selling the Nikon SB900 for over AU$900. I found a powerseller on ebay in Italy claiming that they sell fressh sealed in the box direct from nikon units for AU$529.

Should i be wary?

I don't trust much on eBay anymore. If i were you I would at least look closer to you especially in your country. Remember "Buyer Beware"

You'll pardon my language here, but Sweet %&$#ing LORD that is expensive. Is the Oz dollar doing that poorly, or are you guys just getting reamed on the import duties?

The local retailers are just pirates. On price comparison websites there are net retailers in Oz selling nearly as cheap as the ebay one but its the usual case of the retailer being an unknown quantity.

The latter sounds about right for NZ and camera gear... $1075 NZD for the SB-900 in local shops... so, $726 USD. And just wait until our GST (goods and services tax / sales tax) goes up to 15% in October...

SB-900 here is currently on sale for 450, plus 13% tax.

We need a worldwide discount photography supplier that is trusted by members of DPS. I'm sure that a customer base of over 100k members could get some discount prices.
