Default Is this compatible with my camera?

Hi everyone. I'm looking to buy this remote shutter release :
Newegg.com - Canon RS-60E3 Wired Remote Switch

Will that be compatible with my Canon T2i? It only lists T1i, but seeing as to how they're basically the same camera, I'm thinking that it should work? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a remote that is under $50?

Also, How do I go about choosing filters?

Thanks!

Yep, it's compatible. It's the one B&H recommends as an accessory for the T2i.

I don't use filters so hopefully someone else will chime in.

Choose filters based on what you want them to do. Filters are used for special effects, so depending on which effect you want...

I"m looking into buying a few filters. There are some that are 52mm and others that are 75mm.
how do I know which one to get?

There are many more sizes than that, omni. If you take the lens cap off and look at the lens from the front you'll see lens information like focal (zoom) length, aperture, and a filter diameter like Ø55mm

If you look them up on the Canon website (or other manufacturer) the diameter is usually mentionesd in the specifications.

Edit: while I'm at it, I assume you're aware that the R-60E3 remote cable is only about 64 cm./ 25 inches long?

Canon also has a wireless infrared remote, see the bottom of this page:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel T2i

You have to be in front of the camera to fire it.

RC-1 is more convenient than the RC-5 in terms of carrying it with you everywhere. Oddly it's fuller-featured than the RC-5, as you can have a 2-second delay, too. But like all infrared signalling, it suffers from range in bright sunlight, and requires line-of-sight (i.e., the sensor on the camera--that white dot on the grip--has to be able to see the remote).

Addendum: Crap. It's been discontinued. Forgot I mentioned it.

Another possibility is going on eBay to find a yongnuo RF602 Tx/Rx set--it can double as both a remote shutter release and as an off-camera flash trigger. As it's radio-based, range and line-of-sight are not issues.
