Default Camera to computer

I am looking for the hardware/software that will allow me to view photos on my computer as I take them while out on a shoot. Any suggestions?

What camera? Canon's dSLRs mostly all do tethered shooting with the included Canon software, but few of the P&Ses do (I think only the G series).

Default camera tethered to computer

Sony makes a dvd player I connect my cameras to so I can review a picture as I take them. It has a switch on it for input that allows this to happen. I take a picture and it previews on the camera and the bigger screen of the dvd player. This is very handy when using a tripod and practicing different settings, taking portraits etc. The dvd player does not let you make a dvd but great for reviewing and not too heavy to carry around. I also bought a table that is attached to a tripod at the camera store to hold either a laptop or the dvd player.

Lightroom (and Aperture?) can do tethered shooting, as well as a few other asset management programs (Capture One, etc.), but it really depends on the camera.
