Default 85mm 1.8, 18-200mm or something else?

I plan to buy a new lens pretty soon and was wondering which one I should get. Most of my photos are of children and families, some landscapes as well.

Currently I have these: 50mm 1.8, 18-55mm, 75-300mm.

My options are an 85mm 1.8 or an 18-200mm, those are the ones I have my eye on! Which would you prefer? Or is there another one you really love? I need to spend under $600 if possible

TIA!

If the majority of your photos are portraits, then go with the 85mm f/1.8 USM lens. It performs wonderfully, especially in-studio.

for the same price as an 85mm f/1.8 you can also get a used Sigma/Tamron 24-70 f/2.8

but out of those two you mentioned.. get the 85mm....

Another vote for the 85mm. Everyone that I know that has one LOVES it and it's next on my list!

I have the 85mm and I love it. It takes nice sharp shots.

Some samples
