Gateway monitor

In 2007 I purchased a Gateway LCD monitor. It has worked fine up until two days ago. Now, upon starting I get the usual Windows in the usual windows colours. Once the monitor actually boots up it goes black and white. If I leave it alone long enough to go into stand-by the screen saver is in beautiful colour. I talked, on line, with Gateway Tech, he had no idea of what my problem is. Any body out there know? Chris
