Default GPS Geo Tagger

Greetings,

I'm thinking about buying a geotagger. Any good references out there?

Thank you

Not really. Very few of the devices out there actively "geotag" as you take the shot and embed the information into the EXIF. Most of them use the timestamp on the photos and the gps track data and do a synch-up later to overwrite the GPS fields in the EXIF.

Unless you shoot Nikon and can use the GP-1, chances are good you'll be better off with a separate GPS device to do the tracking, and then using software when you finish the shot to write the GPS data to the EXIF of your photos. Your biggest problem isn't going to be getting the data into the EXIF, it's going to be getting a good usable GPS track data.

If you own a smartphone there should be a GPS logging software around in the appstore. Try that, works great on my Motorola Milestone/Droid.
