Default What lens do you most use, and why?

Thought it would be interesting to see what lens people use the most and why they use it.

For me its my 18-200VR, not because it is a great lens, but because of its versatility.

My 50mm has been unmounted twice in the past two months, both times for wide angle work. It's by far my sharpest lens and is amazingly fast. As difficult as f/1.4 is to focus, it makes my viewfinder ridiculously bright and makes manual focusing a breeze. Zooms just can't compare to a good prime in terms of IQ.

Probably my 50mm - sharp, fast and wonderfully light. Recently I've had my 90mm lens on a lot though - also sharp, almost as fast, longer range and the ability to zoom right in for macro work.

I'll be a little different and say my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8. It's versatile, sharp and at 2.8 can handle some pretty low light situations. I use it as my general walk-around lens. Close second: my Canon 50mm f/1.4. Sharpness can't be beat!

I would say my 17-55 for the same reasons. Versatility and sharpness. When I'm oustide more it will probably be my 70-200. It all depends on what and where I'm shooting.

My 50mm f/1.8 because it's my fastest and sharpest lens by far. Given that my other lenses are the kit lenses, this one blows them out of the water.

Overall, my 18-200 for the versitility. Recently? I just got the 50mm and have had a hard time taking it off. Of course, I'll often spend a week with the 105 on the camera and not wish for anything else (it's just so darn sharp!), so I don't know.

I think I have the most shots taken with 70-300mm but my 10-22mm is a close second. I mostly spend my time outdoors so I find the zoom lenses convenient.

I switch back and forth between my Sigma 18-200 OS and my 50mm f1.8. The Sigma has great overall optics and is very versatile with the stabilization and focal length options. The 50mm is super sharp and works great in low light.

I've been trying my Sigma 28-80mm Macro a bit more lately since it's a bit more lightweight (pretty impressed with the optics so far), but I just keep coming back to the 18-200.
