Sorry bout moving your thread I thought I was looking in the share your shots thread and felt it was out of place...
I think its a great piece to have for portability and when you are not sure where you'll be shooting. I have the smaller one but is a bit weak for my camera with Battery grip and lens but still works decently. I would suggest get the largest one regardless of the camera you have. Never know when you'll be upgrading. Its great for running around with friends and not sure where you'll be able to set up a tripod...very versatile.

I have one which I think is the "DSLR" size, and if I'm correct there is one larger ("DSLR Zoom?"). For me, it's a bit weak to hold my D80 with any lens other than my 50mm or kit lens, but it works wonders with my P&S and has become one of my favorite pieces of gear for sticking an off camera flash in weird locations (like wrapping it around the railing off the second story of a stairwell and pointing down to my shot). So overall, I'm very happy with it, but I agree with Pinball that you should go with the biggest.

well the largest one should be good...its really when I tried it attached to a tree limb and the camera was tilted a bit. Straight up and down it seems just as good as lighter tripod.
I havent used it a whole heck of alot so not sure if the movement will eventually weaken.

I bought one for Pasky, but I think he's asleep... he's used it as an "alien" in some photos and maybe as a head massager so far [only because he doesn't use his compact too often]...they're handy little tool. You could always save a little bit more and get a little manfrotto digi series tripod... they're great [had one for years]

i am not suggesting this as a replacement for a tripod all together but I think comes in handy outdoors in the trees and on rocks or anywhere you aren't going to get a good footing for a tripod. Plus the wrapping the legs around something like a fence or railing or tree limb is something a tripod wont get you.
I think for the money its not that bad of a buy.
