I've thought about getting the DSLR Zoom version for my camera. The smaller ones for P&S cameras might be good for putting a flash up somewhere if you wanted to get if off the camera.

I have one and love the extra funtionality it provides. Unfortunately mine came specifically for my S2 IS (& worked a treat) but since I've upgraded to D80 its not strong enough which saddens me a lot. My manfrotto does not have the extra functionality & I miss it a lot. I probably want both!

I just bought a gorillapod yesterday for my p&s after reading about them here at dps. I already love it because of it's flexibility over my little tripod.

Mine stays attached to my Slingshot 200.

If I know I'll need a tripod I'll take a proper one but, for £35, the DSLR Zoom is handy to have as a "just in case"

I just ordered one. Good to know you can put in on the slingshot. That way it's always there just in case. I also carry a bean bag that has come in very handy at times. I hope the Gorrillapod works with my camera.

I've got one too. I think its great. They are especially good if you want to take macro shots indoors.. Just stand it up on your desk or table or whatever. It does well with my D40 but I don't think it would work well for larger cameras.

Thumbs up

I have one for my A610. I've had it for more than a year and it goes everywhere with me. A kid followed me around an exhibit in a museum in Paris staring at it, very funny. It is just a really fun piece of equipment to have. As well as a conversation starter, as most people want to know what it is.

I really like my Gorillapod--the versatility makes it unique for all kinds of situations. I've found ways of taking shots that never occurred to me as possible before because of the angle or such--that the Gorillapod made easily possible. Sure does open options.

I've enjoyed my Gorillapod quite a bit, especially when going on hikes. It's great for the uneven surfaces, and is lightweight and takes up a minimal amount of space - all very important for those tough hikes. I would definitely recommend at least the SLR size for any camera, and would recommend strongly considering the SLR-Zoom size if there's a chance of you upgrading to an SLR at any time. As an added bonus, if you order from the Gorillapod website, you can get 15% off with the code "GORILLAPODLOVE".
