I've Tamron 70-300 mm lens. Photos are sometimes "soft" so requires color/saturation/hue adjustment for long range shots.

Unless you're going used, the only lens I'd ever recommend under $150 is the 50mm f/1.8. And even then I'd say save up and get the 1.4.
Spekaing of used, you can replace your kit lens on eBay for under $100. The Tamron seems to be a nice lens but it's not exactly a replacement for the kit lens as it only goes to 28mm at the widest. You might be better off buying a replacement 18-55mm and fleshing out your lenses from there. Sorry to not directly answer your question, but it's a thought. |

I am with Roland on this. The zoom you are looking at will expand your range significantly allowing you to shoot a lot of things that are out of reach now. Primes are something to consider after you have a wide range covered with zooms, unless there is a specific area you want to specialize in.

I have ordered the 2 Tamrons: TAMRON SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) TAMRON AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro I am really excited about getting a "fast" lens of f/2.8 and in a zoom range that I can "walk" around with! Thanks for your help! |

Congrats on your upgrade, I think that you will find that getting away from the kit lens will be very rewarding.
