Default Which website software?

Hopefully this is in the right forum.

I am looking at getting going with my photography hobby in a more serious way and would like to begin sharing some shots. Can anyone recommend some gallery type software to help display the photos?

I have experience with running a website and have my own domain names I can use. I would ideally have the gallery running as a sub-domain and would probably limit access (for various reasons)

I am aware of Flikr and Picasa and have also looked at Coppermine and JAlbum for running on my own servers but can anyone recommend any more to try before I make a decision?

Many thanks

You could look at snapixel, there is a free "pro upgrade" for DPS members. Allows you to also offer your images for sale. relevant post

Another DIY solution that is very popular is Gallery.

You might want to consider Wordpress installed on your server and then use the NextGen Gallery plugin to manage your images. It is very versatile for albums, single pictures, auto thumbnails etc. Also with Wordpress running you can use all of the other features that has to enhance the feel and look of the site.

i've used this plugin and it is great. it had a few kinks but the upgrade took care of them. i'm no longer using it though.

Thanks for this - a few people have mentioned wordpress now so will have a good look into it - I was wrongly assuming it was just a straight up blog kit - how wrong I was!

Will also look into Gallery and Snapixel.

Thanks agian all
