Hi all,
I bought SB-900 just recently, I found out that the Diffuser Dome is not enough to give the right output needed from a portrait. I don't have a reflector or an assistant to carry these big cards along, I need to get the best available light almost always. I got introduced to pocket bouncers, small "soft box-like" cards, Shell...etc. For you who have tried these, which gave the best overall results? bouncing off ceiling is not always good as I came to know also. hmmm... confused what to invest on

why not just get a soft box for the speedlight? you can use a small 2'x2' one pretty easily. You need a special bracket attachment but it is not really that big a deal.

i'm really happy with my gary fong lightsphere....a little overpriced for the construction, but it comes through like a champ.....plenty of diffusion and a removeable lid for a good solid bounce bonus.....
i used it at an engagement party during the holidays....it was evening and a fairly dark enviroment......i left the lid off for a strong bounce off a high ceiling and felt i had good results with minimum post..... ![]() for a party, it's terrific...there's plenty of output for smaller aperture group shots .....but for portraiture, i feel the light was too diffused and gave fairly flat lighting..... peeper |
