Default Solar charger

I've been searching and looking for options to charge batteries when away from electricity. There seems to be a lot available now, but I wonder if anyone has actually used one of these. I'm thinking a portable solar panel and then use it with chargers as needed. If yes, what was your opinion, function, no function?

Since I'm asking about this I'll ask about the other item I'm searching for. An actual backpack that can not only accommodate camera equipment, but also the normal supplies for an extended stay outdoors such as sleeping bag, pad, clothing, etc. I seem to be able to find one or the other but not a combined unit that offers proper protection for camera equipment.

Hi,
For the Solar Panel, in the outdoor equipement you can find a flexible solar panel.

Those are the ones I'm looking at, as they can be rolled up to fit into a pack. I just need to determine how functional they are.

If it's going to be a serious hike, what you want is a hiking backpack, and then an insert designed to hold cameras and lenses. Here's someone else's random blog post on the topic: Domke DSLR camera insert for hiking backpacks — they suggest a Domke insert.

There's another company I was looking at that sells hiking gear and happens to also have camera inserts for their stuff. But, uh, I can't remember the name right now and can't find it in a quick search. I'll post back when I dredge it up.

Thanks Matt, that insert is what I was looking for. I've wore my fingers out on Google looking for it and now have a better idea on how to search for alternatives. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle everything in one pack, I may end up having to divide it up and having someone else help carry.

Matt, seriously thanks a lot your clue let me search using the correct terms and there are a lot of technical backpacks available with a removable camera equipment pod. Naneu seems to have a good one, I just need to read some more prior to ordering. naneubags.com
