It is a old printer (~2001). See 1280.

Make sure you can still buy inks for it.

I know it is a older model, replaced by the 1400 200.00 version Was looking more for anyone that had used it..

I figured it was worth 50 bucks so I picked up it, grabbed two ink cartridges and it works, so I will see how it does on prints. Figure for the 50 bucks worth it to print some for around the house..

I had the 785 (same T008201 Color ink) and the prints were OK then. However, I preferred using my 8x10 dye-sub.

Honestly, I had a 1280 - Got it free from work, it was a piece of rubbish. Flimsy, marked most every print, blocked inktanks...

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread before you got yours - I honestly hope it works OK for you, maybe mine was a dud.

Well so far, its crap.

Streaks, and blotches. After a few cleanings it got a little better but not to much.

I found a couple tutorials on cleaning the underside of the nozzles on the print head so I am going to try that today and see, otherwise its going ON CL to see if I can maybe make half of the money back on it.

The black is the worst so far, and I am hoping that its the little brushes under the head that are dirty. Will update after I clean it and reassemble

Thanks

Ok did a complete cleaning on it yesterday and now there is no banding or streaking that I can see, (yet)

But I have a major problem. How do I print pictures with it?

I have a couple that I resized already for uploading and if I print it in the smaller size it prints fine, resizing up of course then I get major grain, knew that would happen.

But I am really confused on how to take the raw image, and size it for say a 5x7 print. I have read a lot and for some reason just confused me even more. All I want to do is to print either 5x7 or 8x10's of my better shots to hang here in the house. But this is driving me insane. I will work on a color profile for cs4 at some other time once I can actually print a print the right size..

Default Update:

Well after a good cleaning tried a couple more prints, mediocre at best look to them. But not convinced it was the printer, I went out and bought some epson Ultra premium photo paper glossy 8x10.

Sent a copy of a pic of my son, (one I posted today) through windows 7 picture preview, told it 8x10, set printer to 8x10 and the right paper settings and I am quite impressed now with this printer.

I wouldnt think that it is sale quality print, neither is the pic, but for right now to hang my kids photos on the wall as I learn it is da%m good. hard to tell the difference between it and last years school photo.

So I guess the moral of this is USE good paper!
