If 70-200 and max aperture of F4 and you don't need IS then
Yes.

I'll second what Richard said. It is a great lens. And if you don't need IS, the price is a bargain for L glass.

Absolutely. I think its the best "bargain" lens you can buy. You might not think that $550 lens is a bargain but it is for what you get in this lens. I upgraded to the IS version, which I love, but I don't think its worth twice the price.

It's one of the best Canon lenses you can get for under $1000. This lens will stya with you for a long time.

If you can get the f/2.8, that's even better, but in daylight for a variety of uses, this is a veyr, very solid lens. You will never regret buying it

without question. I own one (now added the 2.8 IS) and can tell you it is brilliant.

AF is the fastest going, IQ is as good as anything up to the 300mm F2.8 IS.

I have one and it is a great lens.

Positives are it is lighter in weight and less expensive than it's brothers (the f/4 IS, the f/2.8 and the f/2.8 IS). Negatives are it isn't great in low light and doesn't have IS.

I took some pics at a children's outdoor birthday party with some fast moving kids and was very pleased with the sharpness. The f/4 was fine in outdoor light and the lack of IS was not a problem with all the children running around. Plus I was able to stay at a distance so they were basically unaware of me.
