Upgrading my camera soon hopefully

I'm a New Member here, My name is Lauren. I have the Canon Rebel XT and have found that my photography is beginning to improve beyond my camera. I have been told by many other photographers thus far that it is time to invest in a more improved camera to achieve what I am trying to do (Portraits, Landscapes, and also Crisper Sharper images). I have issues with low light with this camera and also with a lot of noise in my photos. What would the next camera be that I should consider at a reasonable price?! And if that can not be achieved, which lens would be the perfect purchase to achieve this effect with the current camera I have? I am fairly new to photography in the manual RAW mode but learning very quickly.

I'd recommend investing in a faster lens rather than buying a new camera. I purchased last summer a used Tamron 28-75 2.8 for 300CAD and I use it indoors without much trouble (good range too). I shoot at around ISO 1000 to achieve 1/60-1/30 shutter speeds which I find acceptable. I've never seen a high ISO shot from the Xt but odds are that they're better than that of my D80. I think ISO 1000 off the D80 looks fine, so ISO 1000 off the Xt should too in my opinion.

My recommendation, get a fast lens (the 50mm 1.8 is an excellent lens) and fire away until your shutter dies (~50k if I remember correctly)!
