(1) What is your budget?
(2) What lenses do you have now? (3) Would you consider switching to another brand?

Hey, welcome to the forums!
I'd recommend investing in a faster lens rather than buying a new camera. I purchased last summer a used Tamron 28-75 2.8 for 300CAD and I use it indoors without much trouble (good range too). I shoot at around ISO 1000 to achieve 1/60-1/30 shutter speeds which I find acceptable. I've never seen a high ISO shot from the Xt but odds are that they're better than that of my D80. I think ISO 1000 off the D80 looks fine, so ISO 1000 off the Xt should too in my opinion. My recommendation, get a fast lens (the 50mm 1.8 is an excellent lens) and fire away until your shutter dies (~50k if I remember correctly)! One more thing, there's a thread where someone's asking for lens advice for his Xti, might want to have a look there .
