Default Nikon RAW to JPG

I have been tempted to start shooting in RAW, but I have trouble producing the same looking (brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness) as my Nikon D50 does for me. I use LightRoom 2 for my post production. Does anyone know if there is a LightRoom Preset that matches what matches what Nikon's conversion to JPG does?

I would like the freedom to work in RAW with more picture data, but I would also like to be able to easily create what I am used to getting.

Thanks for any leads or tips.

If you set the camera calibration to camera standard it should use a profile that will come close, but not exact. But the reason to shoot raw is so that you can process it. If you like what the camera does by default then there may not be a lot of reason to shoot raw.

I do often like what JPG the camera produces. But some times the lighting is just poor, or there is a lot of clipping (both black or white) and I think.... I bet I could do better if this was shot in RAW.

Thanks for the tip on the camera calibration, I will have to check and see that that is set to.
