You are right, it is cliche.
It's a good image though. Just lacks a little punch. There's not much to look at aside from the graffiti, and it is a sort of trite phrase on its own. To really make this stand out, you'll need to juxtapose something else with the main subject. Add something to the frame, could be ironic, metaphorical, a literal interpretation of the phrase... something to provide context. |

bcampbell...first off thanks for the compliment on the image i was hesitant to post it. and yea the grafitti basically has to carry the whole image because the grafitti is actually very small (written on the side of a subway light above the stairs leading down) so trying to ad more things to the frame and still have the word legible was kind of impossible. Thanks for taking the time to look at my photo! |

Yeah, it's more of something to think of in the future.
I think you nailed the B&W conversion, and technically this is a great photo. As a snapshot it works. Just needs something else if you want to take it to the next level. A little soul. But I know that sometimes we just see something that grabs our eye and we shoot it, and you did a good job with that. Keep it up! |
